Smriti Mandhana’s Father Discharged; Wedding with Palaash Muchhal on Hold

In a dramatic turn of events that brought an abrupt halt to what was meant to be a grand week-long celebration in Sangli, Smriti Mandhana’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, has now been discharged from the hospital, with doctors declaring his condition stable. His sudden hospitalisation on Sunday (November 23)—the very day Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palaash Muchhal were set to marry—triggered the indefinite postponement of the wedding.

Shrinivas Mandhana, who had developed chest symptoms resembling a cardiac emergency while having breakfast, was rushed from the wedding venue to a nearby hospital in Sangli. According to the attending physician, Dr. Naman Shah, the issue was confirmed to be angina, prompting continuous monitoring by a full medical team.

The hospital management later revealed that an angiography was performed, showing no blockages—a result that brought immense relief to the Mandhana family. By this morning, he had shown significant improvement and was discharged, with doctors stating that he is completely stable and out of danger.

Just as the family began dealing with Shrinivas’ condition, another setback arrived from the groom’s side. Palaash Muchhal suffered a viral infection coupled with severe acidity, requiring treatment at a private hospital. His health, fortunately, improved quickly, and he was discharged soon after, returning to Mumbai to rest.

The Mandhana–Muchhal wedding, which had already seen nearly a week of vibrant pre-wedding ceremonies in Sangli, came to an unforeseen pause. Smriti Mandhana’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, had confirmed the developments earlier, stating that Smriti—extremely close to her father—decided to postpone the ceremony indefinitely the moment his condition deteriorated.

This succession of medical emergencies in both families transformed what was meant to be a joyous culmination into a period of anxiety and recovery. As of now, no new wedding date has been announced, with both sides choosing to prioritise health and well-being before resuming celebrations.

With Shrinivas Mandhana back home and recovering, and Palaash Muchhal also stable after his brief hospitalisation, the immediate concerns have eased. Yet the events of November 23 have left a deep imprint on what was to be one of the most significant moments in Smriti Mandhana’s life.
