Esha Oza and Theertha Satish Script History with Record 165-Run Opening Stand Over Zimbabwe

The United Arab Emirates women’s cricket team made history in their ODI against Zimbabwe, courtesy to the outstanding performance of Esha Oza and Theertha Satish. The duo formed a record-breaking partnership, putting together a 165-run opening stand, a first over 150 for any Associate nation in Women’s One-Day Internationals.

1. 165 – Esha Oza & Theertha Satish (Zimbabwe Women vs UAE Women, 4th ODI, October 2, 2025)

Esha Oza and Theertha Satish made history for women’s cricket with an incredible partnership of 165 runs against Zimbabwe. This remarkable achievement isn’t just the highest partnership for an Associate women’s team in ODIs; it’s also the first time an Associate side has put together a 150+ partnership.

The match, held in Harare, featured Zimbabwe setting a challenging first-innings total, but the UAE openers responded with exceptional skill and composure.
Oza scored a mature 82 runs off 95 balls, while Satish provided solid support with 66 runs from 99 deliveries, both showcasing great maturity and effective strike rotation. In their maiden ODI series, the historic opening partnership laid the foundation for UAE to post 274/7.

2. 116 – Disha Dhingra & Chetna Pagdyala (USA Women vs Zimbabwe Women, 5th ODI, October 28, 2024)

The previous record for the highest opening partnership by Associate women was 116 runs, achieved by the USA’s Disha Dhingra and Chetna Pagdyala during a thrilling ODI match on the USA’s tour of Zimbabwe in October 2024. The game took place at Harare Sports Club, where Zimbabwe set a challenging total of 246 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 50 overs. The USA responded with confidence, chasing down the target with ease at 249/3 in just 44.2 overs, securing a 7-wicket victory.

Dhingra and Pagdyala opened the innings and took charge right from the start, putting together a fantastic 116-run partnership for the first wicket before Dhingra was dismissed in the 19th over. Pagdyala continued to dominate the bowling, finishing her innings with an impressive 136* runs off 152 balls in her debut match. Their partnership was crucial in setting up the chase, with solid support from Sindhu Sriharsha, who chipped in with 35 runs off 39 balls.

3. 115 – Rachel Slater & Priyanaz Chatterji (Scotland Women vs Bangladesh Women, April 15, 2025)

During the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Lahore, Scotland’s Rachel Slater and Priyanaz Chatterji delivered an astonishing performance that stood out against Bangladesh. Batting first, Bangladesh managed to set a solid score, with several players contributing valuable half-centuries to take their total beyond 250 runs. However, Scotland’s chase began on a shaky note as they slipped to 110 for 7, struggling against the might of Bangladesh’s bowlers.

In the face of adversity, Slater and Chatterji teamed up for a remarkable eighth-wicket partnership of 115 runs. Slater, who is usually recognized for her bowling skills, displayed incredible determination, scoring 61* runs off 73 balls. Meanwhile, Chatterji took a more aggressive approach, racking up 61 runs off 63 balls before getting stumped. Their efforts were commendable; although Scotland ultimately were restricted to 242/9, suffering a 34-run loss. This partnership not only became the highest-ever eighth wicket stand in women’s ODI history but also highlighted Scotland’s fighting spirit against formidable opponents.
