The Board of Cricket Control (BCCI) are adamant with their no-handshake stance ahead of the India – Pakistan clash on October 5 in the ongoing Women’s World Cup. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed the decision.

Pakistan Women captain Fatima Sana, while talking to the reporters on the India – Pakistan clash ahead of the World Cup, said, “There is no extra pressure ((on us) for the match against India as all the World Cup games carry similar pressure. Therefore, we will take that match (against India) as any other game.”
“We will try to take a good start (to the World Cup) against Bangladesh and then move forward with a good momentum,” she added.
Harmanpreet Kaur-led India Women will play against Pakistan Women in the 6th match of the ODI World Cup 2025 scheduled at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on October 5.
The recently concluded men’s Asia Cup saw India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, starting with the no-handshake with the Pakistan team post-match. The act led the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to lodge a complaint to the International Cricket Council (ICC), but with no mandate on the handshake policy, no action was taken.
As per reports, the no-handshake stance by the Indian team is the result of the after-effects of the Pahalgam terror attack and the heightened political tension between the two countries.
The finals game led to another intense scene when India, the champions, refused to accept the trophy from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi. Naqvi is primarily the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief and the Interior Minister of Pakistan.
Fans have given mixed reactions to the decision by the BCCI. While some strongly agree to carry on with the stance against Pakistan, some have opined, calling it an incorrect move.
