The stage is set for another thrilling season of Australia’s premier women’s domestic One-Day competition as the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) 2025-26 unfolds from 24th September 2025 to 21st March 2026. Seven state teams, Western Australia, Queensland Fire, Victoria, New South Wales Breakers, South Australia Scorpions, Tasmanian Tigers, and Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Meteors, will battle it out for domestic supremacy over the next six months.
All eyes will be on record champions New South Wales Breakers, the most dominant side in WNCL history with 21 titles, who enter the season as defending champions after edging Queensland Fire by 21 runs in last year’s grand finale. The tournament will get underway with a high-voltage clash between Western Australia and Queensland Fire on 24th September at the iconic W.A.C.A. Ground in Perth, with the first ball scheduled at 11 AM IST.
Format: How will the tournament unfold?
The WNCL will continue in its traditional double round-robin format, where each of the seven teams will face one another through the course of the league stages. Consistency will be key as every win and bonus point could prove decisive in shaping the standings. At the conclusion of the double round-robin phase, only the top two sides on the points table will earn the coveted spots in the grand finale, set for 21st March 2026. The winner of that clash will be crowned champions of Australia’s most prestigious domestic women’s 50-over competition.
