Malki Madara is one of Sri Lanka’s most exciting young fast-bowling prospects, who has already made a striking impression at the international level with her pace and wicket-taking ability. Born in Akuressa, she progressed quickly through the domestic ranks and was rewarded with a maiden call-up to the national side in 2025.
She made her ODI debut on 27 April 2025 against India in the Tri-Nation Series in Colombo and announced herself soon after with a match-winning performance against South Africa. In just her second appearance, Madara produced a superb four-wicket haul (4/50), instantly underlining her potential to become a frontline seamer for Sri Lanka.
In her first five ODIs, Madara has already collected 6 wickets, with best figures of 4/50. Though still in the formative stages of her career, she has demonstrated the pace, bounce, and movement that set her apart as a genuine strike bowler.
Now on the cusp of her maiden World Cup campaign, Madara offers a fresh dimension to Sri Lanka’s bowling attack, and her early exploits suggest she could develop into a cornerstone of the team’s pace department in years to come.
