Match 45: Durham Women vs Hampshire Women

Hampshire Women stormed to a dominant win over Durham in Match 45, chasing down a revised target with ease to secure victory by 9 wickets with 80 balls to spare via the DLS method.

Batting first, Durham endured an early collapse as Mia Rogers (6) and Emma Marlow (12) fell cheaply, leaving the innings under pressure. Skipper Hollie Armitage, however, stood tall with a captain’s knock of 88 off 105 balls, mixing grit with fluent strokeplay to anchor the innings. She received some scattered support from the middle order, Mady Villiers (19), Emily Windsor (13) and Phoebe Turner (18) chipped in, but it was Grace Thompson’s late flourish of 39 that provided momentum and carried Durham to a respectable 224/9 in 50 overs.

Hampshire’s bowlers shared the spoils, led by Georgia Adams (3/41), while Freya Davies (2/30) and Bex Tyson (2/40) struck at regular intervals to keep Durham in check.

With the match affected by rain, Hampshire were set a revised target of 171 in 37 overs, and they made light work of the chase. Rhianna Southby set the tone with a fluent 58 off 55 balls at the top, finding gaps with ease and putting pressure back on the bowlers. From there, it was the Maia Bouchier show, the elegant right-hander played with supreme confidence, crafting an unbeaten 93 off just 84 deliveries. She timed the ball beautifully, combining placement with power, and ensured Hampshire cruised to 174/1 in only 23.4 overs.

Chasing a revised target of 215 in 26 overs, Somerset faltered early as Rebecca Odgers (1) and Niamh Holland (4) fell cheaply. Seasoned Fran Wilson (33 off 35) tried to steady the innings, but the middle order crumbled with a run of ducks. The fightback came late through Amanda-Jade Wellington’s blistering 53 off 28 and Alex Griffiths’ 28 off 23, but Somerset’s hopes ended at 169 all out in 22.2 overs.

The Blaze bowlers kept the pressure relentless, led by Cassidy McCarthy’s superb 3/12, while Grace Ballinger (2/25) and Lucy Higham (2/34) provided crucial breakthroughs. Kirstie Gordon and Georgia Elwiss also picked up a wicket apiece as Somerset’s chase never truly got going.

Match 47: Surrey Women vs Lancashire Women

Lancashire Women chased down Surrey’s total with confidence to secure a 4-wicket win, thanks to a composed batting display led by Seren Smale’s unbeaten half-century.

The innings gained momentum through Kalea Moore’s steady 67 off 78 and Alexa Stonehouse’s crucial late 48 off 54, guiding the side past the 200-mark. Lancashire’s bowling unit worked in partnerships, with Grace Potts starring with 3/31, supported by Hannah Jones (2/33) and Fi Morris (2/37).

In reply, Lancashire’s top order set the tone early. Emma Lamb’s fluent 59 off 72 and Gaby Lewis’ 39 off 58 laid a strong foundation before Seren Smale anchored the chase with a composed 67* off 70, ensuring there were no late jitters. Skipper Eleanor Threlkeld (21 off 33) and Ailsa Lister (23) chipped in valuable runs as Lancashire crossed the line at 227/6 in 46 overs.

Abigail Freeborn (20), Natasha Wraith (13), Hannah Hardwick (17) and skipper Georgia Davis (17*) tried to keep the innings alive, but wickets fell regularly, restricting them to 204/8 at the end of 32 overs.
