Former player Mithu Mukherjee organises Budding Women’s Challenger cricket cup

Recently the 5th Budding Women’s Challenger Cup was held at Gourimata Uddyan from 16th April to 19th April.

The tournament was inaugurated by present and ex-Indian Women’s Cricket team captains Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami. The tournament consisted of 4 teams, namely,
  1. Saint Teresa
  2. Sister Nivedita 
  3. Rani Rashmoni 
  4. Maa Saroda

    Over 60 girls from various districts of West Bengal participated in this tournament.

The main organizer behind this tournament is ex Indian Women’s Cricketer Mithu Mukherjee, who tries to promote the participation of girls in the cricket arena. BWCC is a proud producer of many Bengal, Ranji, and India team players. With the help of many other ex-Cricketers and close friends, benefactors, well wishers, family, and the major support of Woman and Child Welfare department of Ministry’s head Smt. Dr. Sashi Panja and the local area counsellor Partha Mitra.

This year Saint Teresa team won the cup, scoring 167/7 in 25 overs.

Player of the Tournament- Ankita Chakroborty. Best Batswoman- Antara Ghosh. Best Bowler- Maniza Mumtaz. Best Fielder- Sansistha Biswas. Best Allrounder- Anindita Chatterjee
