The Women’s Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 match between East Delhi Riders Women and Central Delhi Queens took place today at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and was a contest dominated by the Queens from start to finish.

East Delhi Riders Women, after winning the toss, decided to bat first but struggled right from the outset. Their batters never found momentum against a ruthless Central Delhi Queens bowling attack. The standout bowler was Nidhi Mahto, who caused mayhem with a spectacular 5-wicket haul for just 15 runs.
In 16.4 overs, the Riders were dismissed for 88 runs. Brief flashes of resistance came from openers Vanshika Lila (18) and Priya Punia (22), but wickets fell at regular intervals, and the team was never able to stabilize the innings.
For the Queens, the chase began on a positive note with an opening partnership of 65 runs between Deeksha Sharma and Nishika Singh. Deeksha was the main aggressor, playing fluently for her 45 off 40 balls. Nishika played a solid anchor role before getting out for 22. A fairly comfortable run chase was made possible by the powerful opening.
There was a brief period of concern for the Queens as they lost Deeksha and Monika (0) in quick succession, but they had more than enough runs on the board and time left. Saachi and Avleen Kaur came together and ensured there were no more jitters, calmly steering their team to the target.
The Central Delhi Queens won by a commanding seven wickets after completing the chase in just 15 overs. The win was a testament to their balanced performance, with both bowling and batting units contributing significantly.
Nidhi Mahto was deservedly named the Player of the Match for her top-class bowling, which set the tone for Central Delhi’s big win. The result not only showcased the strength of the Queens’ bowling attack but also highlighted their depth in batting, giving them a perfect start to the tournament.
The defeat will sting for East Delhi Riders Women, who will need to regroup and address their batting vulnerabilities ahead of their next encounter.
