An amazing spell of spin bowling from Jess Jonassen helped Heat to win by 5 wickets against Hurricanes at Brisbane on Sunday.
Winning the toss, Heat opted to bowl. Hurricanes’ openers failed again as their openers Daffara and Fazackerley failed again to give them a good start. Both got dismissed for 5 and 7 respectively. Coming in Heather Knight took the responsibility of building the inning and she scored an excellent Half-century consisting of 61 runs including 5 fours and 2 sixes. She got some support from in form Carey who scored 20. Once Carey got out the wickets fell in regular intervals on the other side Knight tried her best to set a reasonable target. Hurricanes ended up at 123 for 8 in 20 overs. Knight remained not out at 61. With the ball, it was Jess Jonassen who was excellent and bowled a lovely spell of spin bowling as she picked up 4 wickets considering just 20 runs.
Chasing the target, Heat did not have the great of the starts as the opener Harris failed again and the other top-order batters too failed except the Southpaw Mooney. It looked like it was going away from Heat at 41 for 4. Later the partnership of Short with Mooney and Kerr with Mooney helped Heat to chase the target in 19.4 overs. Mooney finished unbeaten at 44 and Kerr on 29. With the ball, all the bowlers chipped in with a wicket but none were able to stop the Heat from Chasing.
