Veteran Indian spin-bowling all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin bid farewell to his international cricket, pulling curtains on a stellar 14-year career that also saw him emerge as India’s second-highest leading wicket-taker in Test match cricket with 537 dismissals. Following his retirement various female cricketers reacted on social media applauding and celebrating Ashwin’s glorious career.
Announcing his retirement during the post-match conference, Ashwin stated, “This will be my last day as an Indian cricketer in all formats at the international level.”
Former Indian skipper, Mithali Raj congratulated Ashwin and praised him for his contributions towards Indian cricket. She reflected on Ashwin’s dominance in the red-ball format, where he showcased unparalleled skills claiming 537 wickets and receiving 11 Player of the Series awards – the joint most in Test cricket. The off-spinner all-rounder was the only Indian all-rounder to amass over 3000 runs, including six centuries, and 500 wickets in Test cricket.
Mithali Raj stated on the social media platform ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter, “You have been a true asset to Indian cricket, @ashwinravi99. Your contributions especially in red ball cricket have been invaluable. Congratulations on a fabulous career and best wishes for the future!”
Jhulan Goswami, the former India pacer, shared an emotional post for ‘legend’ Ashwin who has inspired generations and hailed his legacy.

Current Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur also posted a story on Instagram and praised Ashwin’s remarkable career which was filled with milestones and stated that his presence would be deeply missed.
