India’s spin duo Aayushi Shukla and Sonam Yadav trigger a collapse

The Bangladeshi openers Mosammat Eva and Fahomida Choya got their side off to a positive start with a 27-run opening partnership, after skipper Niki Prasad won the toss and inserted them to bat first. However, India bounced back through double strikes from Aayushi Shukla, removing both their openers in the final over of the powerplay.

Bangladesh seemed to only partially recover after that, as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and as a result, they were restricted to 80/8 in their quota of overs. Mosammat Eva (14 off 19 balls), Habiba Islam (11 off 4 balls), Fahomida Choya (10 off 14 balls), and Nishita Akter Nishi (10 off 17 balls) made a significant contribution (56%) to their team’s total, while also being the only players to enter the double digits.

Aayushi Shukla (4-1-9-3), and Sonam Yadav (4-1-6-2) ran through the opposition’s batting line-up. They were well supported by the likes of Shabnam Shakil (4-0-13-1), Parunika Sisodia (3-0-8-0), and Mithila Vinod (3-0-28-1) with the ball for India.

Gongadi Trisha’s fifty and Niki Prasad’s cameo sees India over the line

Chasing a modest total of 81, India lost a couple of wickets in the form of Sanika Chalke and wicket-keeper batter G Kamalini in quick succession inside the powerplay. Skipper Niki Prasad joined the opening batter Gongadi Trisha at the crease and the duo took their side over the line with an unbeaten 64-run partnership for the 3rd wicket.
