The series, scheduled to begin on January 19, will see all three matches played at the iconic Basin Reserve in Wellington.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Healy opened up about her current fitness and form challenges. “I won’t be wicket keeping this series,” Healy stated, citing her focus on recovery and contributing as a batter.

“The knee’s tracking well, it’s just a day-by-day thing, and we’ll just assess as we go. There’s not a lot of cricket leading into the Ashes, so for me, it’s an opportunity to try and get back on the park, as a batter, and try and find some runs more importantly,” said Healy.

The series marks a crucial phase for Healy, who has faced a prolonged period of limited cricket action over the last eight to nine months. With her primary goal being to rediscover her batting form, the matches in Wellington provide an ideal platform for the experienced campaigner to regain confidence ahead of bigger challenges.

Healy also addressed the evolving dynamics of the Australian team, emphasizing the infusion of fresh talent into the squad with Georgia Voll one of those who impressed with her performances with the bat in the ODI series against India.

“We’ve been transitioning for a little while, getting some youth in the side,” she explained. “But obviously, a forced hand with some injuries at the moment,” despite these challenges, the depth of Australian cricket continues to shine.

“I think we’re in a really great space. The depth in Australian cricket is really strong. And everyone who keeps stepping in, to take my job in particular, seems to make my runs or take wickets, so we’re in a good space at the moment.”

The series serves as a preparatory stage for Australia ahead of the highly anticipated Ashes at home.
