This six-team competition will feature some of the best young talent from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal (qualifiers), and hosts Malaysia. With the ICC Women’s U19 World Cup around the corner, the Asia Cup serves as a crucial stage for young players to showcase their skills and solidify their spots on the global stage.

Earlier this year, the Bangladesh U19 Women’s team demonstrated their strength during a tri-nation series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The Young Tigresses dominated the league stages, winning all four matches before narrowly losing to Sri Lanka in the final by 36 runs.

Key players stood out with stellar performances. Captain Sumaiya Akter was among the top five run-scorers, tallying 95 runs, while vice-captain Afia Ashima Era showcased consistency with 85 runs at an impressive average of 42.50. The emerging talent Mst Eva added depth with her solid contribution of 57 runs. On the bowling front, Nishita Akter Nishi turned heads by taking five wickets and finishing as the third-highest wicket-taker in the series.

The players continued to impress in domestic competitions, particularly in the Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League 2023-24, in May-June. Sumaiya Akter maintained her golden touch with the bat, scoring 289 runs across eight innings. Meanwhile, Nishita Akter Nishi proved her mettle with the ball, bagging 20 wickets in just nine matches.
