India A led by skipper Sanika Chalke suffered a 22-run defeat in their previous encounter against South Africa led by skipper Kayla Reyneke in the 4th game of the Under-19 Triangular series. On the other hand, India B led by skipper Niki Prasad defeated South Africa by 4 wickets in their previous encounter in the 5th game of the series.

India A led by skipper Sanika Chalke was up against India B led by skipper Niki Prasad in the 6th match of the series.

G Kamalini and Mithila Vinod power India B to 164/6

The India B openers Bharti Upadhaya and wicket-keeper batter G Kamalini justified skipper Niki Prasad’s decision to win the toss and bat first with a solid 39-run opening stand. However, G Trisha struck twice in the 6th over of the innings to bring India A back into the contest.

India B lost their way a little bit in the middle, before a couple of substantial partnerships between Ishwari Awasare (42 off 32 balls) for the 4th wicket followed by another crucial 43-run stand between wicket-keeper batter G Kamalini (80 off 61 balls) and Mithila Vinod (25 off 13 balls) for the 5th wicket took their side past the 160-run mark (164/6) in their quota of 20 overs. The pair of G Kamalini and Mithila Vinod made a significant contribution of 64% to their team’s total.

G Trisha (4-0-27-2), Joshitha V J (4-0-31-2), Chandni Sharma (3-0-32-2), and Sonam Yadav (4-0-26-0) were the star performers with the ball for India A.

Bhavika Ahire’s 44 in vain as India B seal a convincing victory

Chasing a stiff target of 165, India A fell 19 runs short of the target as they were restricted to 145/6 in their quota of 20 overs. The 38-run 5th wicket partnership between Bhavika Ahire and Joshitha V J and 34-run 2nd wicket partnership between skipper Sanika Chalke and Sasthi Mondal were a couple of substantial partnerships for India A which ultimately wasn’t enough for their side over the line. Bhavika Ahire (44 off 31 balls), Sasthi Mondal (20 off 20 balls), G Trisha (19 off 16 balls), and skipper Sanika Chalke (19 off 21 balls) were the positives with the bat for India A.

Kesari Drithi (4-0-15-0), Parunika Sisodia (3-0-18-1), Anaadi Tagde (3-0-21-1), and Mithila Vinod (3-0-28-1) were the top performers with the ball for India B.

Wicket-keeper batter G Kamalini (80 off 61 balls) was awarded the Player of the Match for her match-winning innings with the bat for her side.
