India women’s A team scored a dominant win over Bangladesh women’s A team in the 1st ODI of the series.
Bangladesh A team won the toss and decided to bat first in the 1st ODI which was played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.
In the first innings, Bangladesh women could only score 104 runs, before being bowled out in the 46th over. The India A bowlers took frequent wickets and didn’t let the batters settle.
Wickets fell in the 6th and 7th overs, courtesy Tanushree Sarkar and Simran Dil Bahadur respectively. Fargana Haque Pinky and Nigar Sultana Joty tried to stitch a partnership before the latter fell in the 17th over. The highest score from Bangladesh’s side was made by Nigar Sultana and Fahima Khatun, both of whom scored 17 runs each. Apart from Pinky who scored 10 runs, the other batters couldn’t score in double digits.
The bowling was tight from India’s end with Sushree Dibyadarshini and Tanushree Sarkar giving only 13 and 11 runs in their 10 and 8 over spells respectively. Sushree and Kanwar bagged 3 wickets each. Sarkar got 2 wickets while Bahadur and captain Devika Vaidya scalped 1 wicket each.
Nuzhat Parveen was the standout performer for India in the second innings. She scored 51 runs and remained not out while chasing the target of 105 runs set by Bangladesh. Tanushree Sarkar provided a good company at the other end by scoring 29 runs. Earlier Meghana was trapped LBW by Rumana Ahmed in the 9th over and she had to depart scoring only 12 runs. Devika could only contribute 8 runs to the scoreline before falling to Shaila Sharmin in the 18th over.
India A team chased the score in the 38th over itself, winning the game by 8 wickets. Nuzhat Parveen was declared the player of the match.
