Australia women’s team has dominated the Sri Lankan women’s team in the recently concluded T20I series. Winning the series 3-0, Australia now goes into the ODI series with the intention of yet another whitewash.

Preview

With the performance Australian women have been putting on the field it would be difficult for the Sri Lanka to beat the Aussies in their backyard. Australian women’s team is on a high and rightly so, they have not lost a series since the women’s World Cup in 2017. Recently they beat England in the away Ashes series. Australian women who recently traveled to the Caribbean islands beat the West Indies team comprehensively in the ODI series.

Sri Lankan women’s team, on the other hand, is very less experienced and confident compared to their opponents on these occasions. There is a stark difference between the positions of these two teams in the ICC ODI Championship points table. While Australia sits on top of the table, Sri Lanka is languishing at the bottom of the table.

Australia has a well-settled unit with all their batters in prime touch, and bowlers bowling opponents out cheaply. With Ellyse Perry an important cog in their batting lineup not getting to bat in the T20 series gives us a fair idea about the form their top three has been in. Beth Mooney and Alyssa Healy both scored a century each in the recent T20 series.

Sri Lankan batting lineup is heavily dependent on the experienced campaigner Chamari Athapaththu who scored a brilliant century In the first T20 but has tailed off since that innings. Sri Lanka would hope that she with the likes of Shashikala Siriwardene and Oshadi Ranasinghe can help their team perform better.
