The upcoming edition is the landmark 10th edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). The tournament will commence on 27th October 2024 and will conclude on 1st December 2024. The Adelaide Strikers, led by skipper Tahlia McGrath, clinched back-to-back titles in the tournament’s 8th and 9th editions of the tournament.
The defending champions have recently signed a 17-year-old pace-bowling sensation Maggie Clark for the 10th edition of the WBBL.
“As a proud South Australian who grew up in the State’s mid-north, I’ve cheered on the Strikers as they brought home the WBBL trophy for the past two summers. To now find myself in the squad alongside so many great players is truly a dream come true,” shared Maggie Clark, elated to join the Strikers for the upcoming 10th edition of the tournament and it being a dream come true moment for her.
Clark featured in Australia’s first batch of the Under-19 World Cup side and was also recently a part of the Australian Under-19 side in a tri-series in Sri Lanka, involving England along with the hosts. The Strikers signed three international superstars, Smriti Mandhana, Laura Wolvaardt, and Orla Prendergast in the overseas draft on 1st September, earlier this year.
“She and Eleanor have shown what they can do in Australia colours, and we believe it will be fantastic for their development to be part of a Strikers group that includes international players the caliber of Tahlia McGrath, Megan Schutt, Darcie Brown, Laura Wolvaardt and Smriti Mandhana,” commented the Adelaide Strikers head coach Luke Williams on this opportunity a good learning curve for the two youngsters being alongside the likes of experienced international stars.
