How many Crores will Winners of Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 get as Prize Money?

In a historic move that highlights the growing prominence of women’s cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a record-breaking prize pool for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Scheduled to kick off next month in the UAE, the tournament will feature a total prize fund of $7,958,080 USD, more than doubling the prize money from the 2023 edition.

This unprecedented increase means that the champions of the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup will take home an impressive $2.34 million, marking a 134% increase from the $1 million awarded to Australia in the previous tournament. The runners-up will also benefit significantly, with their prize money rising to $1.17 million, reflecting the same substantial growth.

The boost in prize money extends beyond just the finalists. Semi-finalists will earn $675,000 each, more than three times the amount received by last year’s semi-final teams. Additionally, each group stage win will now be rewarded with $31,154, a notable 78% increase from last year’s $17,500 per win.

Teams that do not advance past the group stage will still receive substantial support. Each of the 10 participating teams will be awarded a base prize of $112,500, ensuring that all teams benefit financially from their participation. Teams finishing in fifth to eighth places will each secure $270,000, while those in ninth and tenth positions will receive $135,000 each.

This landmark increase in prize money underscores the ICC’s commitment to elevating women’s cricket and achieving greater parity between the men’s and women’s games. It also enhances the stature of the Women’s T20 World Cup, solidifying its position as one of the premier events in international cricket.

The ninth edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup is set to commence on October 3, 2024, and will run until October 20. The tournament will be hosted across two venues in the UAE—Dubai and Sharjah. The ten-team tournament will consist of two groups: Australia, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand in Group A, and West Indies, England, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Scotland in Group B. All group stage matches will be completed by October 15, with the semi-finals scheduled for October 17 and 18. The climactic final will determine the champion on October 20, as the world’s best teams vie for both the prestigious title and the record-breaking rewards.
