Guyana Amazon Warriors led by skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill defeated the Trinbago Knight Riders led by skipper Deandra Dottin in the 3rd match of the season at the Brain Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad. Both these sides were up against each other in a reverse fixture in the 4th match of the season at the same venue.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill won the toss and opted to field first at the Brain Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad. After being inserted to bat first, the Trinbago Knight Riders openers Harshitha Samarawickrama and skipper Deandra Dottin got their side off to a flying start with a 66-run opening partnership. The pair scored at a rate of 8 runs an over.

Chloe Tryon picked up the wicket of Harshitha Samarawickrama to provide the first breakthrough for Guyana Amazon Warriors. Tringbago Knight Riders suffered a collapse as they lost their next four wickets for just 11 runs. Wicket-keeper batter Kycia Knight joined Shikha Pandey at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 40-run partnership for the 6th wicket to take their side past the 100-run mark.

Karishma Ramharack picked up the wicket of Shikha Pandey to provide the 6th breakthrough for her side. Trinbago Knight Riders eventually ended up with a total of 128/8 in their quota of overs. Skipper Deandra Dottin (53 off 38 balls), Shikha Pandey (25 off 24 balls), Harshitha Samarawickrama (18 off 18 balls), and wicket-keeper batter Kycia Knight (16 off 22 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Trinbago Knight Riders.

Chloe Tryon (4-0-12-2), Karishma Ramharack (4-0-19-2), Shabnim Ismail (4-0-24-2), and Erin Burns (3-0-27-1) were the top performers with the ball for Guyana Amazon Warriors. Chasing a target of 129, the Guyana Amazon Warriors openers Sheneta Grimmond got their side off to a steady start with a 17-run opening partnership. Zaida James picked up the wicket of Sheneta Grimmond to provide the first breakthrough for Trinbago Knight Riders.

Skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 2nd breakthrough for Trinbago Knight Riders. Erin Burns joined Shemaine Campbelle at the crease and the duo almost killed the run chase with a massive 77-run partnership for the 3rd wicket to take their side past the 100-run mark. Samara Ramnath picked up the wicket of Shemaine Campbelle to provide the 3rd breakthrough for her side.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors were eventually restricted to 128/5 in their quota of overs, as a result, the game eventually went into a super over. Erin Burns (61 off 50 balls), Shemaine Campbelle (25 off 29 balls), skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill (11 off 15 balls), and Natasha McLean (9 off 5 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Guyana Amazon Warriors. Zaida James (4-0-24-1), Jess Jonassen (4-0-15-0), Samara Ramnath (4-0-26-1), Shikha Pandey (4-0-25-0), and Jannillea Glasgow (2-0-18-1) were the top performers with the ball for Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Skipper Deandra Dottin and Jemimah Rodrigues stepped out to open the innings for Trinbago Knight Riders in the super over. The duo smashed 19 runs in the over against Shabnim Ismail Skipper Deandra Dottin (13 off 4 balls), and Jemimah Rodrigues (6 off 2 balls).

Chasing a 20-run target, the Guyana Amazon Warriors just managed to score five runs for the loss of a couple of wickets in the super over against Jess Jonassen. As a result, they fell 15 runs short of the target.

Skipper Deandra Dottin was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant, match-winning performance (53 off 38 balls), and (13 off 4 balls) with the bat, playing a crucial role in helping her side get over the line to register their first points on the board in the ongoing 3rd edition of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League.
