We witnessed an action-packed 4th edition of the Women’s Hundred. The tournament included multiple thrilling edge-of-the-seat contests throughout the season.

We will have a look at the journey of teams in the 4th edition of the tournament and the top performers of the season.

Team Seedings:

Southern Brave:

The Southern Brave led by skipper Georgia Adams had a horrible season as the defending champions finished on the bottom of the points table with three points from eight games. Their only victory of the campaign came against the Oval Invincibles led by skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill.

Danielle Wyatt was the highest run-scorer and the 4th highest run-scorer of the tournament with 227 runs to her name at a strike rate of 128.97 and an impressive average of 32.42 in eight innings. Her tally of runs includes a couple of half-centuries. Lauren Bell was the highest wicket-taker with the ball for her side with nine wickets in eight innings.

Birmingham Phoenix:

Birmingham Phoenix led by skipper Ellyse Perry also had a forgettable campaign as they finished 7th on the points table with seven points from eight games including three victories against the Welsh Fire, Southern Brave, and Trent Rockets.

Skipper Ellyse Perry was the highest run-scorer of the season for her side with 203 runs to her name at a strike rate of 125.30 and an average of 29 in 8 innings. Her tally of runs includes a couple of half-centuries. Emily Arlott was the leading wicket-taker for her side and the joint 4th highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 11 wickets to her name in seven innings. Freya Davies, Marianne Kapp, and Hayley Matthews were the other three players with 11 wickets each.

Manchester Originals:

Manchester Originals led by skipper Sophie Ecclestone also had a disappointing campaign in the 4th edition of the tournament. They finished 6th on the points table with seven points from eight games including three victories against the Northern Superchargers, Trent Rockets, and Southern Brave.

Laura Wolvaardt was the leading run-scorer for her side with 215 runs at a strike rate of 136.07 and an impressive average of 35.83 in seven innings with the bat for her side. She was also the 6th highest run-scorer of the tournament. Her tally of runs includes one unbeaten half-century when she scored (78* off 52 balls) against Southern Brave on 1st August 2024. She was also awarded the Player of the Match for her match-winning performance with the bat. Kathryn Bryce was the highest wicket-taker for her side with seven wickets in eight innings with the ball. Her tally of wickets included one five-wicket haul (20-10-13-5) against the Northern Superchargers. Her spell also included one hat trick.

Trent Rockets:

Trent Rockets led by skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt had a decent campaign in the 4th edition of the Women’s Hundred. They finished fifth on the points table with eight points from eight games, including four victories and four defeats in their campaign.

Skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt led from the front for her side as she was not only the leading run-scorer for her side but also the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 303 runs to her name. She scored at a strike rate of 137.10 and a humongous average of 60.60 in 8 innings. Her tally of runs included three half-centuries. Ashleigh Gardner was the leading wicket-taker for her side with 10 wickets in 8 innings with the ball. She was also the joint 5th highest wicket-taker of the tournament, alongside Annabel Sutherland, Katie Levick, Georgia Davis, and Amanda-Jade Wellington.

Northern Superchargers:

The Northern Superchargers led by skipper Hollie Armitage had a decent campaign in the 4th edition of the Women’s Hundred. They were the runners-up of the 3rd edition of the Women’s Hundred as they ended up on the losing side against Southern Brave in the final. They finished fourth on the points table with 8 points from 8 games, including three victories, three defeats, one tied game against Southern Brave, and one washed-out game against Welsh Fire. They narrowly missed out on qualifying for the knockout stages of the tournament courtesy of their seven-wicket defeat in their last league game of the tournament. Their fate-deciding defeat came against the eventual champions, London Spirit led by skipper Heather Knight.

Annabel Sutherland was the leading run-scorer for her side with 212 runs to her name with the bat. She scored at a strike rate of 137.66 and an impressive average of 35.33 in seven innings. Her tally of runs includes one unbeaten half-century. Linsey Smith was not only the highest wicket-taker for her side but also the highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 15 wickets to her name in seven innings with the ball.

London Spirit:

London Spirit led by skipper Heather Knight had an impressive campaign in the 4th edition of the Women’s Hundred. They finished 3rd on the points table with 9 points from 8 games, including four victories. They just managed to sneak through to the playoff stages of the tournament courtesy of their seven-wicket victory against the Northern Superchargers in their final league game of the season. They were eventually crowned as the champions of the 4th edition of the tournament. They defeated Welsh Fire led by skipper Tammy Beaumont in the final by four wickets to clinch their maiden title triumph in the Women’s Hundred.

Skipper Heather Knight led from the front with the bat as she was the highest run-scorer for her side and the 2nd highest run-scorer of the tournament with 271 runs to her name in 10 innings with the bat. She scored at a strike rate of 137.56 and a sensational average of 45.16. Her tally of runs included one half-century. Sarah Glenn was the leading wicket-taker for her side and the 2nd highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 13 wickets in 10 innings. Her tally of wickets included one four-wicket haul.

Oval Invincibles:

The Oval Invincibles led by skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill had an impressive campaign in the 4th edition of the Women’s Hundred. They finished 2nd on the points table with 11 points from 8 games, including five victories, a couple of defeats, and a tied game against the eventual champions London Spirit. Their couple of defeats came against Southern Brave and the Northern Superchargers.

Alice Capsey was the leading run-scorer for her side and the 5th highest run-scorer of the tournament with 222 runs to her name in nine innings. She scored with a strike rate of 118.08 and an average of 24.66. Her tally of runs includes a couple of half-centuries. Marizanne Kapp was the highest wicket-taker for her side and the joint 4th highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 11 wickets in nine innings. Her tally of wickets included one four-wicket haul. Emily Arlott, Freya Davies, and Hayley Matthews were the other three players with 11 wickets each. Their campaign came to an end with an eight-wicket defeat in the Eliminator against the eventual champions London Spirit led by skipper Heather Knight

Welsh Fire:

Welsh Fire led by skipper Tammy Beaumont had an impressive campaign in the 4th edition of the Women’s Hundred. They finished at the top of the points table with 11 points from 8 games, including five victories and a couple of defeats. Their defeats came against Birmingham Phoenix and Oval Invincibles.

Hayley Matthews was the highest run-scorer for her side with 198 runs in 8 innings. She scored with a strike rate of 107.60 and an average of 33. Her tally of runs includes one half-century. Jess Jonassen was the highest wicket-taker for her side and the 3rd highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 12 wickets to her name in 8 innings.
