Sri Lanka’s tour of Ireland concludes with the 3rd and final One-Day International (ODI) on the 20th of August 2024. Ireland followed their historic win in the 2-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series by securing a series win in the 2nd ODI with a remarkable turnaround. The game is scheduled for 3:15 PM Indian Standard Time (IST) at the Civil Service Cricket Club, Belfast.

Squads:

Ireland – Orla Prendergast (C), Ava Canning, Christina Coulter Reilly, Alana Dalzell, Sarah Forbes, Amy Hunter, Arlene Kelly, Joanna Loughran, Aimee Maguire, Jane Maguire, Leah Paul, Freya Sargent, Rebecca Stokell, Alice Tector

Sri Lanka – Chamari Athapaththu (C), Vishmi Gunaratne, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Hasini Perera, Kavisha Dilhari, Nilakshi Silva, Anushka Sanjeewani, Kawya Kavindi, Udeshika Prabodhani, Achini Kulasuriya, Sugandika Kumari, Sachini Nisansala, Inoshi Fernando, Shashini Gimhani, Ama Kanchana, Kaushini Nuthyangana

Players to watch out:

Orla Prendergast

The 22-year-old all-rounder in ODIs, from 21 outings, has accumulated 589 runs at an average of 36.81, and from 11 bowling innings, has taken 8 wickets with an economy rate of 4.50. Building on her 2024 domestic season success, she registered scores of 29 and 38 in the T20Is, followed by a career-best 122* in the ODI opener, alongside bowling figures of 0/36, 2/28, and 3/25. Given her form, she’ll be counted on for the goods.

Alice Tector

The young pacer made her international debut in the ODI opener of this series, returning promising figures of 1/49 (8). Alice was a standout this domestic season, particularly in the One-Dayers, bagging 13 wickets from 6 outings and maintaining an economy rate of 3.08, while also chipping in with 104 runs. She should be backed to build on the promising start she had with the ball, while also adding to the runs tally.

Hasini Perera

The 29-year-old middle-order batter, from 45 ODI outings, has posted 716 runs, including the highest of 46. Hasini, in the 2nd T20I of this series, departed cheaply for 10, but in the ODI opener, she played a handy knock of 46. She hasn’t consistently converted her starts in international cricket, but time and again, she has stepped up with important knocks. However, the team will expect her to build on her starts and register a big score.

Sachini Nisansala

The 22-year-old left-arm off-spinner, with an average of 20.50 and an economy rate of 4.95, has taken 6 wickets from 4 ODIs, with a best of 5/28. Sachini didn’t have a good start to this series, being wicketless and expensive in the two T20Is. However, in the ODI opener, she recorded figures of 1/44 and remained unbeaten on 17*. It is hoped that she will capitalize on this form, especially with the ball, producing breakthroughs.
