The Indian Women’s team led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur recently completed a dominating whitewash in a five-match T20I series in Bangladesh. An ideal way for the women in blue to prepare for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.

The ICC recently (5th May 2024) released the fixtures for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The tournament will get underway on 3rd October 2024 and will conclude on 20th October 2024.
Over the years, the Women in Blue has delivered impressive performances in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, since its inception in 2009 (1st semi-final Vs New Zealand [lost by 52 runs]), 2010 (1st semi-final Vs Australia [lost by seven wickets]), 2012, 2014, and 2016 (India failed to make it to the play-off stages on all of those three occasions).
Ever since skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur took the leadership role in the T20I format in 2016, the women in blue have made it to the semi-final on a couple of occasions and the final on one occasion (2018, 2nd semi-final Vs England), 2020 (final Vs Australia), and 2023 (1st semi final Vs Australia). “I think in all the ICC events we have done well. The only thing is that we have lost a lot of close games. The Women in Blue will host South Africa led by skipper Laura Wolvaardt for an all-format series that includes a three-match ODI series at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, followed by a one-off Test match at the MA. Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk in Chennai, and then a three-match T20I series in Chennai. The series will commence on 16th June 2024 and will conclude on 9th July 2024. They will then travel to Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup which will be played in T20 format before the T20 World Cup in October.
