Pakistan women’s cricket star all-rounder, Aliya Riaz, embarks on a new innings of life as she exchanges vows with Ali Younis, esteemed cricket commentator and brother of legendary former Pakistani men’s captain Waqar Younis, in a grand ceremony held in Lahore on 12th April.

Aliya Riaz, a star all-rounder in Pakistan’s women’s cricket, has left an indelible mark on the international stage, with an impressive record of 62 One Day Internationals and 83 T20 matches, scoring a total of 1209 runs and claiming 10 wickets in ODIs, along with 938 runs and 20 dismissals in T20I matches for her country. Her capability was particularly evident during the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in the West Indies and the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia, where her exemplary skills and unwavering dedication captivated audiences worldwide.

Meanwhile, Ali Younis, a prominent figure in the cricketing commentator, elevates the spectator experience with his insightful commentary and profound understanding of the game. Recently, he contributed his expertise to the PSL 2024 commentary team, further solidifying his status as a respected voice in cricketing circles.

The enchanting event unfolded at a secluded farmhouse in Lahore, adorned with the melodious tunes of a special Qawwali night. This joyous occasion follows their engagement ceremony held at the start of this month in Wah Cantt, serving as a prelude to their forthcoming journey together.

Among the distinguished attendees were Alia’s teammates, including the esteemed skipper Nida Dar, Anam Amin, Iram Javed, Bisma Mahroof, Sidra Amin, and Natalia Parvez. Additionally, Pakistan Cricket’s male counterparts, such as the skipper Babar Azam, Azhar Ali, Mohammad Yousuf, Mushtaq Ahmed, Ramiz Raja, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Kamran Akmal, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Umar Akmal, graced the occasion with their presence.
