Tammy Beaumont returns to the Melbourne Renegades for WBBL 2023

The upcoming 9th edition of the Women’s Big Bash League is all set to get underway on 19th October 2023. The overseas players draft was introduced for the first time in the Women’s Big Bash League this year. The player selection process concluded on 3rd September 2023.

The 32-year-old England veteran batter Tammy Beaumont returns to the Melbourne Renegades after a gap of four years. She joins Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, and West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews forming the overseas trio for the Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming 9th edition of the WBBL.

She made her WBBL debut for the Adelaide Strikers in the year 2016. She scored 276 runs at a strike rate of 96.50 and an average of 25.09 in her debut season. Her tally of runs included three half-centuries. Her best performance with the bat had come against the Brisbane Heat in the year 2017 when she scored 58 runs at a strike rate of 107.40. She scored 577 runs at a strike rate of 93.21 and an average of 22.19 in 27 innings. Her tally of runs included four half-centuries across the two seasons for the Adelaide Strikers.

She moved to the Melbourne Renegades in the fifth edition of the Women’s Big Bash League in the year 2019. She scored 277 runs at a strike rate of 99.64 and an average of 23.08 in 13 innings.

She then moved to Sydney Thunder in the year 2020. She scored 403 runs at a strike rate of 102.28 in 26 innings across the two seasons. Her tally of runs includes a couple of half-centuries. Her best performance with the bat for the Sydney Thunder came against the Perth Scorchers when she stayed unbeaten of 77, scoring at an impressive strike rate of 130.50.

“I’m excited to be returning to the Big Bash this summer and to be back in red with the Renegades. Melbourne’s a great place to play cricket and there are some familiar faces still at the club who I’m looking forward to playing alongside again.

“It looks like a strong squad on paper, and with the additions of Hayley and Harmanpreet at the Draft, hopefully, we can be there at the business end of the season,” said Tammy Beaumont looking forward to playing for the Melbourne Renegades in the upcoming 9th edition of the Women’s Big Bash League.
