The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023’s fourth game saw the Mumbai Indians Women dominate Royal Challengers Bangalore Women by nine wickets, solidifying their lead at the top of the points standings. Smriti Mandhana and her team lost four wickets during the power play after choosing to bat first. The player of the match for her team was Hayley Matthews, an all-rounder who took three wickets in the first innings to aid Mumbai in holding Bangalore to just 155 runs in 18.4 overs.
Hayley Matthews, the West Indian all-rounder, continued to attack the RCB-W bowlers throughout the field, scoring an unbroken 77 runs off 38 deliveries with the help of 13 fours and a lone six to enable her team chase down the total in just 14.2 overs, despite it seemed as though the West Indian all-rounder had reached her limit.
WPL 2023 Points Table: The Mumbai Indians are still in the top spot on the points table following their significant victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore. Royal Challengers Bangalore, on the other hand, has now lost two games and is in fourth place on the points table, while Gujarat is last with the lowest net-run rate.
WPL Orange Cap standings: After her outstanding performance against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Hayley Matthews has overtaken Shafali Verma as the leader of the Orange Cap standings and is now in the lead with 124 runs. Natalie Sciver, a fellow Mumbai Indians player, has advanced in the standings as well and is currently in third with 78 runs through two games.
WPL Purple Cap standings: As a result of the bowler’s 2 wickets in Bangalore, which brought her total to 6, Saika Ishaque has elevated her status and ascended to the top of the standings. After their five-wicket haul in their opening games, Tara Norris and Kim Garth are still in second and third place, respectively. While Natalie Sciver and Hayley Matthews, two of Mumbai Indians’ top all-rounders, have moved up the rankings.
