Who makes the cut in Female Cricket’s ICC U19 Team of the Tournament?

The ICC U19 World Cup 2023 concluded on 29th January but left us with a lot of players who have left an indelible mark on our minds with their brilliant performances. Here’s a look at our team of the tournament!

  1. Shweta Sehrawat

The swashbuckling batter has impressed one and all with her stellar performances throughout the World Cup, as she ended up as the highest run-getter with 297 runs and an average of 99, but what was special was her remarkable strike rate of 139.43. Her unbeaten 92* versus South Africa in the first game really caught the attention of everyone

  1. Eyman Fatima

Another youngster who scored 157 runs at 52.33 and a strike rate of 126.61 was Eyman Fatima from Pakistan, who scored when it mattered the most. Her two fifties stood out in what was an interesting campaign for Pakistan.

  1. Grace Scrivens (c)

She was awarded the Player of the Tournament for her prolific all-round performance as she scored 293 runs under her belt at an average of 41.85, and that 93 versus Ireland was a classy knock while she also pocketed 9 wickets. She stood out in England’s campaign, led admirably from the front, and contributed her best in all possible departments.

  1. Georgia Plimmer

Georgia Plimmer had a memorable World Cup and was instrumental in bringing her experiences to the senior team for the U19 team as well. She was the highest run-getter for New Zealand with 155 runs and scored at an average of 51.66.

  1. Henriette Ishimwe

The star player from Rwanda is next on the list of impressive stars to make it to the team of the tournament on the back of good performances. Amassing 133 runs and scalping six wickets, her good vein of form in the qualifiers and subsequent series was for everyone to see in this World Cup as well, and she did not disappoint.

  1. Shorna Akter

Shorna Akter was positive for Bangladesh, and this World Cup saw her unleash her big-hitting prowess, and she was the second-highest six-hitter in the tournament. Scoring 153 runs at 157.73, she was at her scoring best in all opportunities and helped Bangladesh in all frontiers.

  1. Hannah Baker

Another exceptional leg spinner in the making is Hannah Baker, as she scalped 10 wickets. She was England’s second-highest wicket-taker and was England’s most important weapon, and it was that remarkable 3/10 against Australia that paved the way for a famous victory for England.

  1. Anosha Nasir

Another bright spot in Pakistan’s campaign was Anosha Nasir, who scalped 10 wickets and ended up as the third-highest wicket-taker. She was effective in all the games bagging wickets, and will be a crucial asset for Pakistan’s senior team.

  1. Maggie Clark

Besides Ellie Anderson, another pacer who stood out was Maggie Clark, and she was the most effective wicket-taker ending up with 12 wickets in five games. She was consistent throughout the tournament and pocketed a wicket in almost all of her games, and her 3/15 versus England was a spirited bowling effort.

  1. Parshavi Chopra

Another major positive for Team India was Parshavi Chopra, as she pocketed eleven wickets throughout the tournament. Her unbelievable figures of 4/5 against Sri Lanka and 3/20 in New Zealand, besides the game-changing 2/13 in the finals, was nothing short of phenomenal.

  1. Dewmi Vihanga

Another incredible all-rounder from the Sri Lankan stable is Dewmi Vihanga, who was critical for the islanders throughout the World Cup. Scoring 113 runs and scalping nine wickets, she singlehandedly helped Sri Lanka present a good performance at the World Cup.
