In the first ODI, which was reduced to 40-over a side, Pakistan posted 160/8. Nida Dar top-scored with 59 for Pakistan, while for Australia, Darcie Brown and Jess Jonassen were the most successful bowlers with two scalps each. In reply, Australia cruised to the target in 28.5 overs and won the match by eight wickets. Debutant Phoebe Litchfield starred with the bat scoring an unbeaten 78 for the hosts, while Diana Baig and Omaima Sohail claimed one wicket apiece for the tourists.

Phoebe Litchfield:

The left-handed opening batter of Australia made a dream ODI debut in the first match against Pakistan on January 16. The southpaw won the player of the match award for her brilliant batting performance of 78 not out off 92 balls. Her match-winning innings was studded with nine boundaries and a six.

Darcie Brown: 

The right-arm speedster of Australia provided a perfect start to her team with the ball in the first ODI against Pakistan. She opened the bowling with Megan Schutt and struck in her first over. She struck again in the sixth over, getting rid of both the openers. In her four overs, she conceded 21 runs and bowled one maiden.

Nida Dar: 

The dashing all-rounder of Pakistan starred with the bat in the first ODI against Australia. The right-handed middle-order batter mustered 59 off 88, including five boundaries and a six. She also bowled three overs of off-spin and gave away 24 runs.

Diana Baig:

The right-arm pace sensation of Pakistan struck in the first over of the innings as she sent the dangerous Beth Mooney packing. She accounted for 21/1 in six overs, including one maiden and was one of the only two wicket-takers for her side. She was also the most economical bowler.

Pitch

It will be the second game of the series at the venue. The last match saw 318 runs being scored. 10 wickets fell in the process. Though it was a rain-curtailed affair, it was an exciting contest between bat and ball. The surface looks good for batting. The fast bowlers could get some assistance with a chance of a shower and cloudy conditions on the cards.
