Inaugural U15 Women’s One-Day Trophy gets underway on December 26th

BCCI rolled out a plethora of tournaments in the domestic calendar of 2022-23. While this season will also see the return of the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 tournament and one-day competitions, in a welcome move the BCCI will also be hosting a U-15 girls’ tournament for the first time in what is being seen as a step in the right direction and the competition will give the young girls early exposure to competitive cricket and foster confidence while also facilitating an easier transition to the U-19 and other senior age level tournaments.

According to BCCI, “This tournament is introduced to create a pathway for our youngsters which will help introduce fresh talent.”

The U15 Women’s One-Day Trophy will be conducted from 26th December 2022 to 12th January 2023. The group stage matches will happen from 26th December to 3rd January and the knockouts will be from 6th January to 12th January. The matches will happen in venues across India ranging from Shimoga, Gwalior, Morena, Ranchi, Rajkot, Bhilai, and Raipur to name a few.

There is a total of 36 teams who will be participating and squaring off against each other. A lot of the state teams kept open trials to pave the way for girls to come and try out their luck for selection while also keeping strict mandates on providing the right age certificates and other required documents. This tournament will certainly be an exciting one and something to look forward to.
