6 Team Rajasthan Royals Women’s Cup to take place in Jodhpur

Rajasthan Royals (RR), a proud franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) continues to put forward their best foot in promoting and opening opportunities for girls in the game and now, yet again, have come forward this time alongside Rajasthan Cricket Association in organizing RR Women’s Cup 2022.

The competition being open to all age groups aims at providing a platform for cricketing talent from across the state to earn an opportunity to take part in the RR Women’s Cup that will take place from the 17th to the 19th of September 2022. But first, in Jodhpur, on the 16th of September, there will be a trial.

As many as six teams are set to take part in the inaugural edition of the RR Women’s Cup which sees the state’s six major cities in ‘Jaipur’ Warriors, ‘Jodhpur’ Gladiators, ‘Udaipur’ Thunderbolts, ‘Ajmer’ Blazers, ‘Kota’ Mavericks and ‘Bikaner’ Strikers forming teams with a pool of 25 players each and with 15 players each shortlisted from the trials which are scheduled to be held at the Spartans Cricket Academy Ground, Uchiyarda on the 16th September 2022 and overseen by Royals’ Head of High-Performance Operations Romi Bhinder.

All the matches in the competition will be hosted at the Spartans Cricket Academy Ground, Uchiyarda in Jodhpur over the 3 days; from the 17th to the 19th of September. The opening two days will see league matches start at 7 AM, 10:30 AM and 2 PM. Rajasthan Royals’ players in Riyan Parag and Shubham Garhwal from the IPL are set to grace the competition by being around the participating players.

The Royals’ Head of High-Performance Operations, Romi Bhinder, along with her delegates of the Rajasthan Cricket Association will be providing guidance and support to all the players during and post the tournament for their continued development.

Rajasthan Royals CEO, Jake Lush McCrum on the competition said, “Transforming society through cricket is our overarching purpose as a franchise, and with the RR Women’s Cup 2022, we are delighted to be bringing such an exciting opportunity to the talented girls of our home state with the support of the Rajasthan Cricket Association. With as many as 150 players from across the state expected to participate in the tournament, we are sure to witness some intense battles on the field and also identify potential talents that could be part of the state and the national team, as well as the Women’s IPL in the future.”
