Players to watch

Ashleigh Gardner:

The star Australian all-rounder helped her side snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against India in the first match of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She muscled an unbeaten 52 off 35 balls, including nine boundaries to guide her team to a three-wicket win. She also bowled her full quota of four overs and conceded 23 runs.

Jess Jonassen:

The wily left arm spinner from Australia wreaked havoc with the ball against India in her last outing. She scalped 22/4 in four overs and ran through the opposition’s middle order in a jiffy. She picked up two wickets in the 16th over.

Meg Lanning:

The captain of Australia is world number one T20I batter. Though she had an off day with the bat against India in her last appearance, she will be raring to go against Barbados. In her last match, she scored eight runs off five balls.

Hayley Matthews:

The skipper of Barbados had a good outing with both bat and ball in her last match against Pakistan. The right-handed opening batter mustered 51 runs off 50 balls, including four boundaries and a six. With the ball, she claimed 13/1 in four overs.

Kycia Knight:

The left-handed top order batter and wicket-keeper top scored for Barbados against Pakistan in her last appearance. She muscled an undefeated 62 off 56 balls, including nine boundaries. In the process, she stitched a 107-run partnership with Hayley Matthews for the second wicket.

Deandra Dottin:

The hard hitting right-handed opening batter of Barbados can give any bowler run for her money. While she got off to a start in her last match against Pakistan hitting two boundaries in her five-ball stay, she will be itching to go against Australia in the upcoming fixture.

Pitch

Expect a belter of a wicket with plenty of runs on offer. Winning the toss and bat first could be the order of the day. While there is not much for the bowlers, consistency with lines and lengths and variations could be the key.

Weather

The weather is expected to see variable cloudiness with brief showers. The maximum temperature forecast is 22 degrees Celsius. There will be 70 percent cloud cover and 84 percent chance of rain. The wind will blow from the north-west.
