Shabnim, Marizanne, Nat nominated for ICC’s Player of the Month for June 2022

On July 4, the ICC revealed three nominees for the player of the month for June 2022. Out of the three nominees, two are from South Africa and one is from England. Shabnim Ismail (South Africa), Marizanne Kapp (South Africa) and Natalie Sciver (England) are the nominees for the ICC player of the month for June 2022.

Shabnim Ismail (South Africa):

The right arm speedster from South Africa had a great run in the white ball series against Ireland that was played from 3 to June 17 in Dublin. Ismail was the leading wicket-taker in the three-match ODI series as she accounted for 11 wickets, including one five-wicket haul. She registered the best bowling figures of 8/5 in the competition. She averaged 5.00 and bowled at an economy rate of just 2.22 runs per over. She bowled a total of 24.5 overs and conceded just 55 runs. Apart from this, she featured in a couple of T20Is against Ireland and struck with one wicket.

Marizanne Kapp (South Africa):

The South African all-rounder scored a total of 193 runs in the one-off Test against England that was played from June 27 to June 30 in Taunton. The right-handed batter mustered 150 runs in the first innings and followed it up with an unbeaten 43 in the second innings. In the first innings, she came in to bat in the 18th over when the visitors were struggling at 45/4. She steadied the sinking ship and was there in the middle till the 88th over. Similarly in the second innings, her team was teetering at 64/4 and she again came to their rescue. Apart from her batting, she also opened the bowling for the Proteas and bowled a total of 21 overs, including nine maiden overs and gave away 40 runs.

Natalie Sciver (England): 

She won the player of the match in the one-off Test that was played against South Africa from June 27 to June 30 in Taunton. The right-handed middle order batter scored an undefeated 169. From being 65/1, England were suddenly struggling at 121/5 as they lost four wickets for just 66 runs. Sciver joined hands with Davidson-Richards and stitched a mammoth 207-run partnership for the sixth wicket. This was Sciver’s first Test century in eight matches. Apart from her batting, she contributed with the ball. The right arm medium pace bowler bowled a total of 21 overs, including seven maiden overs. She conceded 41 runs and picked up one wicket in the match.
