Sophie Ecclestone, the World No.1 Bowler has been the talk of World cricket since her epic 6 for 36 against South Africa in the 2nd of the 2022 Women’s World Cup. The English spinner has been applauded and acknowledged by a lot of cricket experts across the world for her exceptional display of spin in the semifinal match against South Africa. She has picked 20 wickets in 8 matches in the 2022 Women’s World Cup.
Appreciating the performance of Sophie Ecclestone, England batter Alex Hartley wrote on the Telegraph as follows, “There has been a lot of talks in the commentary box over the last few weeks on who is the better spinner between Jack Leach and Sophie Ecclestone. We usually don’t debate between a male and female cricketer. But, the way Ecclestone has been performing in the 2022 Women’s World Cup. She is capable of playing in men’s first-class cricket. The mindset that has been shown by her in this World Cup is just next level.”

Alex Hartley also added that from the beginning of the tournament she expected Sophie Ecclestone is to be the best bowler in the tournament taking the most number of wickets. Now with both of those predictions becoming true, she’s happy to see how she has carried herself and has showcased her fighting spirit in this 2022 Women’s World Cup for England.
Going into the finals, Sophie Ecclestone will be a key player to watch out for, as she has been extremely dominant with the ball taking a minimum of three wickets in the last four matches. Expect her to be playing a major role in the final against Australia on Sunday, April 3rd at Christchurch.
