The Scoop podcast’s new series, Baggy Green Queens brings back the memories of over 85 years of the oldest cricket rivalry – The Ashes. Supported by CommBank and hosted by Emily Collin and Laura Jolly the series which sees an episode coming every Tuesday since December 7, celebrates the achievements of the greats of Australian women cricket including the only double-century scorer on test debut to date, Michelle Goszko.
Representing the Aussies in 39 international matches (34 ODIs, 4 Tests, 1 T20I), Goszko made her ODI debut in November 1997 but wasn’t included in the Australian squad from July 1998 to June 2001. Playing for the side after being left out for a long period, Goszko made her test debut in June 2001 on the team’s tour to England for the Ashes.
Utilizing the opportunity, she finally got, Goszko went on to create history, leaving everyone stunned after smashing the then equal highest Women’s test score and the first double century by a debutant in test, a record which to date belongs only to her. In an innings of 204 runs, Goszko sent 24 balls to the boundary line.

Unfortunately, Goszko suffered a stroke last month but as reported by cricket.com.au, is now out of the hospital and on the mend. To assist her with recovery, Goszko’s cricket family has set up a GoFundMe page as mentioned in the episode. Those who wish to donate can do it Here
