Batting first, Sydney Thunder posted a competitive score of 143-7 in 20 overs, thanks to Smriti Mandhana (37 runs off 24 balls) and Phoebe Litchfield (40 runs off 32 balls). The duo put together 39 runs in 28 balls, however, leg spinner Poonam Yadav got rid of Mandhana in the eighth over and also of Corinne Hall (0) on the very next ball as she had two in two. Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for Brisbane Heat as she scalped 3-17 in her four overs, including the wicket of Litchfield as well.
2nd innings Brisbane Heat 144-5 in 18.2 overs
In reply, Brisbane Heat chased down the target in 18.2 overs, winning the match by five wickets. Wicket-keeper and opening bat Georgia Redmayne mustered 57 runs off 45 balls, including seven boundaries to lead the run chase. Georgia Voll (25) and Mikayla Hinkley (33) made some useful contributions with the bat to help their team go past the target. For Sydney Thunder, captain Hannah Darlington was the most successful bowler as she scalped 3-21 in her four overs.
