The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier is a tournament whose sole purpose is to allow worthy teams to compete in the ICC Cricket World Cup. While Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, and India are already confirmed participants for the competition next year, this qualifier will give us 3 more participants that will strive for the title of world champions.
The qualifier, which was originally going to be played in Sri Lanka in July 2020 will belatedly be played in Zimbabwe between 10 teams divided into two groups – A and B, between 21st November and 5th December.
The top three teams from each group go to the Super 6 stage, with group stage points carrying over to the next phase.
From there, the top three after the Super 6 six stage will qualify for the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022.

These groups will play a total of 29 matches; the top 3 performers of each group will then qualify for the ‘Super-6’ round scheduled to take place between 1st and 5th December. Subsequently, the top 5 performers of the tournament will also progress into the next cycle of the ICC Women’s Championship.
The 10 teams play the group stages in two groups of five each. These are:
Group A: West Indies, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Netherlands
Group B: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Zimbabwe, USA
The ICC will help bring fans to the tournament through comprehensive digital coverage. Matches will be covered live on ICC.tv and there will be scoring, match recaps and player features on www.icc-cricket.com & the official ICC app.
