While none of the signings have been confirmed yet officially, the Sydney Sixers have expressed a strong inclination towards signing the likes of Shafali Verma and Radha Yadav. A couple of Indian players in the form of Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana participated in the WBBL04 for a few games but India’s tour of the West Indies clashed with the remaining part of the tournament leading to their early exit.

WBBL06 was also supposed to feature several Indian players but its clash with the Women’s T20 challenge led to no participation.

Cricket Australia’s General Manager of Big Bash Leagues Alistair Dobson told cricket.com.au. “I know there’s been lots of exciting conversations going on (between clubs and India players). They’re such a popular team, and popular players in their own right, that if we were able to see some of those players in the WBBL that’d be really exciting. All our clubs are having lots of conversation, so we’ll wait and see.”

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not allow its male cricketers to participate in leagues outside India but does permit its women cricketers to participate. Considering this and the fact that India will already be in Australia at the time with no clashing schedules, their chances of getting signed in the WBBL are high.

Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Smriti Mandhana, and Deepti Sharma will be some of the highly demanded Indian players, backed by their recent performances in The Hundred as well.
