A complete player, Deepti Sharma has been one of the rising all-rounders in the Indian women’s team. She has the ability to bowl frugally in the powerplay and develop pressure by picking wickets. The left-handed batter from Uttar Pradesh is flexible enough to bat in different positions. She has opened, batted in the middle, lower middle, and lately, she has been handed the finishing role in international cricket.
Deepti made her debut at the age of 17 against South Africa in an ODI match, immediately picking two wickets while conceding 35 runs. At a young age, she started breaking records as she hammered Ireland, scoring 188 runs and being involved in a 320-run partnership with Punam Raut for the opening wicket, becoming the first pair to register a 300-run partnership in women’s cricket.

In 2016, she became the youngest Indian to scalp a five-for when she recorded figures of 6/20 against Sri Lanka in Ranchi. She made her T20I debut in the same year in Australia and has now played more than 100 T20 matches for India, being one of the team’s valuable assets. Sharma was sold to UP Warriorz for Rs 2.6 crore at the Women’s Premier League Auction in Mumbai on 13 February 2023. In the second WPL, she became the first Indian bowler to take a hat-trick in the WPL, against the Delhi Capitals. In the same season, she received the award for the Most Valuable Player. In the 2017 World Cup, she was part of the Indian team, scoring 216 runs and picking 12 wickets, contributing both with bat and ball. She made her Test debut in 2021 against England. Deepti Sharma has also received the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award. She was awarded this honour in December 2023 for her exceptional all-round performances against England and Australia. During this period, she showcased her prowess in both batting and bowling, contributing significantly to India’s victories. Her achievements included a stellar performance in the Test series, where she scored crucial runs and took key wickets, leading to her recognition as the ICC Women’s Player of the Month
As of 2024, she has one century to her name, which came against Ireland when she opened the innings. She received the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2020 for her outstanding achievements in cricket. With over 200 appearances, Deepti Sharma has more than 5000 runs and over 230 wickets.
