India’s sensational batter Shafali Verma is very composed and cool ahead of her stretch at the inaugural season of the 100-ball tournament, beginning this July 21st at Bristol. Earlier a potential player on the radar, Verma’s place was confirmed at The Hundred as the replacement of Birmingham Pheonix’s skipper Sophie Devine.
The 17-year-old is not at all tensed about the upcoming challenges coming her way. She only wishes to make her father and her country proud. “There’s no tension. I just want to perform to the best of my abilities and make my country and father proud,” she was quoted saying as per Indian Express.

Shafali has been a very important asset in the T20Is for her team ever since her performance at the 2020 T20I World Cup. It was then when she gained the top spot on the ICC’s Women T20I batters ranking list. At the tournament, she was the fifth-highest run-scorer with 163 runs in just 5 matches at an average of 32.60 and her strike rate being 158.25.

Teen Sensation Verma has got her maiden ODI and Test call-up for the Indian side at the upcoming England Tour and according to SportsBettingDime.com it’s the team with the best chances to win the match.
She’ll be seen playing in all three formats of the game during the tour. Apart from The Hundred, she’ll also be preparing for her maiden Women’s Big Bash League as she has signed a deal with the Sydney Sixers for this season.
“With so much cricket scheduled over the next three months, I would have liked to practice at my coach Ashwani sir’s academy. I miss the nets session. But given the current situation (pandemic and lockdown), this is the best that I could have done,” she concluded.
