1st Innings Summary – Sydney Sixers made a slow start and lost three of its in-form batters within the mandatory batting powerplay as the scoreboard read 20-3 at the end of sixth over. Sara McGlashan also fell early, leaving it to the most experienced pair of skipper Ellyse Perry and South African player Dane van Niekerk to take the team out of the batting crisis. While Niekerk played attacking cricket, Perry held the other end and batted calmly. Both the batters reached their respective fifties and remained not-out till the end.

2nd Innings Summary – Melbourne Renegades made a similar start like their opponents as the scoreboard stood at 21-3 after the mandatory batting powerplay. However opener Sophie Molineux and Jessica Duffin held their nerves did a 60run partnership before the later getting caught out in 14th over. Another wicket fell in 16th over and it seemed that Sixers were taking control of the match. But Claire Koski and Sophie put up a brave fight in the end and were just a shot away from a historic win. Needing three runs off the last ball, batters ran two runs successfully but couldn’t complete the third one ending the nail-biting match into a tie.

Owing to brilliant bowling by Marizanne Kapp, Melbourne Renegades’ openers could not do much in the super-over and set a target of seven runs for Sydney Sixers. Ellyse Perry hit the winning six on the fourth ball of super-over to secure a berth in WBBL04 final.

Player of the matchEllyse Perry for batting well, taking a wicket, bowling a match winning last over, putting up a superb fielding effort out in the middle (one catch and a run-out) and for hitting the winning runs in the super-over
