Meg Lanning has reclaimed her spot at the helm of ICC ODI Batsmen Rankings, after an excellent outing in the recently concluded ODI series against New Zealand. The captain led from the front in Australia’s 3-0 whitewash of the White Ferns, with 163 runs, including one century at a whopping average of 98.19. Lanning will be joined by her teammate, Alyssa Healy at number 3, after slipping from the 2nd spot in ICC’s rankings announced on Friday.
Two Indians found their place in the batting rankings, with Smriti Mandhana at Number 4 and Mithali Raj at Number 10. Both the Indian stars have managed to retain their spots from the last ranking update, despite not having played any cricket since the T20 World Cup finals in March, earlier this year. As many as 4 Indian bowlers, most among any team, have found their place in the Top 10 of the ICC ODI Bowlers’ Rankings.

Veteran, Jhulan Goswami, leads the way at Number 5, followed by Poonam Yadav and Shikha Pandey, at 6 and 7, respectively. The trio have each gone up one place, at the expense of the injured Elysse Perry, who has slipped down three spots to 8th. Finishing off the list at 10th, is recent Arjuna Awards winner, Deepti Sharma.
The Australian outfit is full of world-class players, and that has helped them equal the world record 21-match winning streak by Ricky Ponting’s Australia. Their retention of the Rose Bowl means that the girls in yellow have not lost the prestigious trophy in 21 years now. The class of this Australian team reflects in the rankings as well, with left-arm spinner, Jess Jonassen topping the charts for the bowler’s rankings.
Jonassen made short work of the Kiwi batting lineup in the recently concluded series, taking 8 wickets, with a best of 4/36. Elysse Perry missed the entirety of the series after re-injuring her hamstring in training but has held on to the Number 1 spot in the all-rounder rankings. Perry remains in the top 10 of batting and boilings rankings despite slipping a few places. She’s now 7th on the batting charts and 8th in bowling. Australian pacer, Megan Schutt, finds herself at Number 3 on ICC’s ODI Bowlers’ Rankings.
