Recent reports suggest a positive light. The President of BCCI has said that women’s IPL is “very much on”. The reports further strengthened the speculations of national women’s side returning back to action. The challenger series, as we call women’s IPL, as per Ganguly is “very much on”.

There were widespread allegations on Ganguly-led BCCI for not formulating a plan for Mithali Raj and her side. As widely reported, the men’s edition of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to be held between September 19 and November 8. More importantly, the tradition of fitting in the women’s IPL will not be neglected and the event will be accommodated in the schedule.
Ganguly said that “I can confirm to you that the women’s IPL is very much on and we do have a plan in place for the national team also”.
Ganguly, however, refrained from giving further details on the plan. A senior official, nonetheless, confirmed that women’s IPL will be held during the later or the last phase of the Indian Premier League. The previous manifest of the game in 2019 was at a similar slot. The source said that “The women’s Challenger series is likely to be held between November 1-10 and there could be a camp before that”.

Ganguly further added that “We couldn’t have exposed any of our cricketers — be it male or female to health risk. It would have been dangerous”. He said that “The NCA also remained shut because of COVID-19. But we have a plan in place and we will have a camp for women, I can tell you that”.
The Indian Board is expected to ramp up the preparations and schedules for the female side in the lights of the world cup coming in the early months of 2021. There are talks of India facing Proteas and Windies in their bid to sharpen themselves for the mega event. The widespread criticism received by BCCI on the appointment of a selection panel has warranted a great degree of attention from known personalities throughout the globe.
