Top 5: Highest Partnership in Women’s ODI cricket

Partnerships are very significant in the game of cricket, it is the art of building innings, sharing the workload, playing to your partner’s strengths and weaknesses. The following are the Top 5 highest partnerships in ODI cricket.

1. Deepti Sharma and Punam Raut – 320

Indian opening batter Deepti Sharma and Punam Raut broke the record for the highest partnership in ODI cricket after their dazzling performance against Ireland in 2017. India won the toss and chose to bat, both the openers gave India an inspiring start with their partnership of 320 runs which came to an end when Deepti Sharma got bowled. Sharma made a score of 188 which is the third-highest individual ODI score and Raut scored 109 runs before having to leave the field with an injury. The openers allowed India to make an enormous total of 358 and win the game by 249 runs.

2. Amelia Kerr and Leigh Kasperek – 295

White Ferns duo Amelia Kerr and Leigh Kasperek have the second-highest partnership in women’s ODI and the highest second-wicket partnership. They achieved this record after their stunning performance against Ireland in 2018. After the fall of the 1st wicket, opener Amelia Kerr and Leigh Kasperek put up an astounding partnership of 295 in which Kasperek scored 113 runs and Kerr scored the highest individual score of 232 runs in only 145 balls. To top that off Kerr also picked up 5 wickets leading New Zealand to a 305 run victory.

3. Tammy Beaumont and Sarah Taylor – 275

English pair Tammy Beaumont and Sarah Taylor are ranked third on the list for the highest partnerships in ODI cricket. This came after their batting brilliance against South Africa in the 2017 World Cup match, where they made a partnership of 275 in a mere 249 balls. After the first wicket, Beaumont and Taylor went on to play a magnificent inning with Beaumont scoring 148 runs from 145 balls and Taylor scoring a blistering 147 in only 104 balls. The duo’s partnership led the English team to a convincing 68 run victory.

4. Caroline Atkins and Sarah Taylor – 268

Englishwomen Caroline Atkins and Sarah Taylor are fourth on the list for the highest partnerships in ODI cricket. The opening duo punished South Africa in 2008 with its 268 run partnership. Taylor scored an inspiring 129 runs from 13 balls and Atkins continued the fury with her 145 runs in 155 balls. With the help of their partnership, England went on to score 310 runs and won the match by 225 runs.

5. Suzie Bates and Haidee Tiffen – 262

New Zealand skipper Haidee Tiffen and Suzie Bates hold the fifth position in the highest ODI partnerships. They accomplished this during the 2009 World Cup match against Pakistan, where the duo managed to score a combined 262 runs. After the fall of the first wicket Tiffen and Bates had settled in, Tiffen went on to score a century in 128 balls. Bates picked up the pace, scoring a remarkable 168 runs in just 105 balls. The White Ferns went on to score a humungous total of 373 and bowled out Pakistan for 150 runs.
