Cricket West Indies looking for a permanent Head Coach for Women’s Cricket team

Lockdown has given a much-needed pause to the game of cricket. Before the lockdown, there were days when three or four matches were being played on different grounds of the world. With a break on the constant, teams and players have used this time to revisit the past and ponder on the coming.

West Indies is scheduled to play the English side and can be part of cricket’s revival amidst fear of novel coronavirus. The women’s side for Windies are working too. The cricketing board for the game in Islands has reportedly initiated process within the Caribbean to recruit a permanent coach for the female cricketers. Gus Logie shall cease to be the coach as his appointment was interim. He was serving as the head coach from October 2019 and his last assignment was the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Windies side couldn’t qualify into the knockouts. Their exit was disappointing as the side got only one match under the belt out of 4 they played. Jimmy Adams, who serves CWI as director of cricket, read that the recruitment for the permanent coach has been initiated. Further he said that “Following the recently concluded Women’s T20 World Cup, we have now begun the recruitment process for finding a permanent Women’s team Head Coach. The successful candidate will be expected to drive our women’s program forward and improve our results across both formats. We are grateful for the efforts of interim Head Coach, Gus Logie, who has led the squad during this transition period and will continue in his interim role until the process has concluded”.

The press release from the Caribbean cricketing board highlights their ambition to perform consistently and make their mark in the bigger tournaments. The coach, as per the release, works towards producing West Indies Women’s teams which perform consistently with winning performance in ODIs and T20Is through the design and delivery of well-structured and progressive coaching programs. Secondly, the coach has to effectively deploy resources and implement tactical initiatives to ensure the achievement of superior match results and top placement in all ICC competitions.

Moreover, it listed that coach shall undertake to manage the on and off-field development of current and new players through elite player development, health, and welfare programs. Lastly, Managing an elite and dynamic team management unit to get the maximum output from the players makes it into the list. The deadline for interested candidates to apply is 26th May.
