Winning the toss Thailand skipper opted to bat first.

It was a historic day for Thailand playing in such a huge tournament like the world cup. Batting first, Thailand did not have the greatest of the start as the openers were dismissed early for just 9 and 2. Even the middle order failed as the experienced bowling line up of Windies dominated over inexperienced Thailand batting lineup.

Stefanie Taylor the skipper did most of the damage with her spell of 3 wickets for 13 in 3 overs. She was well supported by other bowlers who contributed with a wicket each.

For Thailand, it was the young 19-year-old Nannapat who looked good with the bat scoring 33 runs whereas the others struggled to cross double-digit. In the end, Thailand finished their inning at 78 for 9 in 20 overs.

Chasing the below-par score of 79 even Windies had a poor start with Kirby getting dismissed for 3 in a mixup. The other opener Matthews after getting a good start was cleaned up by Latah on 16. Dottin who is making a comeback after a long injury break did not have the greatest of starts as she was run out for just 2. Windies struggling at 27 for 3, the skipper took the responsibility of the chase. Taylor along with Campbelle with a partnership of 53 took Windies home with ease and won the match by 7 wickets.

Though Thailand did not have a great start to the tournament, playing against’s good side will add a lot to the future of the team. On another side, Windies started well and would like to continue the same throughout the tournament.
