Kathryn Bryce to Lead Scotland in ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy 2026

Scotland have announced their 14-player squad for the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy in the UAE, with Kathryn Bryce named captain. The 28-year-old all-rounder led Scotland at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year and will again lead the side at the 10-team event. The tournament is scheduled to begin on 12 November. Bryce’s return as captain gives Scotland continuity after she led the team at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year. The squad includes players with plenty of international experience, including Darcey Carter, Sarah Bryce and Katherine Fraser. They will be joined by younger members such as Gabriella Fontenla, Pippa Sproul and uncapped teenager Isabella Watson. The selection brings together players at different stages of their careers as Scotland prepare for the tournament. Watson, who is only 18 years old, could also be in contention for next year’s tournament.

Fontenla and Sproul featured for Scotland at the most recent edition of the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup in 2025. Their experience at youth international level adds to the younger group selected for the Emerging Nations Trophy. Watson, meanwhile, remains uncapped and is still only 18 years old. Alongside these younger players, Scotland have established names who have played plenty of international cricket. The squad brings together senior experience and young talent as the team gets ready for the 10-team event in the UAE.
