Melbourne Renegades Women returned to winning ways in the Women’s Big Bash League 2026, defeating Hobart Hurricanes Women by four wickets at Bellerive Oval in Hobart on November 4. The Renegades won the toss and chose to field, putting Hobart in to bat first. The Hurricanes finished their innings on 154/7 in 20 overs, setting a target of 155. Melbourne reached 155/6 in 19.5 overs to complete the chase with one ball remaining. Sophie Molineux was named Player of the Match after an important bowling performance.

Hobart lost early wickets and found it difficult to build momentum in the opening stages. Lizelle Lee scored six from six balls before Molineux dismissed her, while Rachel Trenaman was out for a duck. Chamari Athapaththu managed nine from 18 deliveries before Georgia Wareham removed her. With the score under pressure, captain Nicola Carey took responsibility and kept the innings moving. She found some support from the middle order, but Melbourne continued to pick up wickets and made it difficult for Hobart to build a strong partnership.
Carey top-scored with 62 from 43 balls, hitting 10 fours. Heather Graham made nine, while Maddy Green added 17 from 16 deliveries. Chinelle Henry provided a late push, scoring 36 from 18 balls with seven fours, before being run out through a combination of Wareham and Nicole Faltum. Hayley Silver-Holmes remained unbeaten on two, and Lauren Smith finished on four not out. Hobart ended on 154/7, with nine extras. Molineux was the pick of the Renegades bowlers, taking 4/22 in four overs. Wareham claimed 1/23, while Hayley Matthews took 1/39.
Melbourne began their chase with Olivia Porter making 14 from 11 balls before Graham sent her back. Matthews and Courtney Webb then put together a useful partnership, helping the Renegades settle into the innings. Matthews reached her half-century from 33 balls, including eight fours, while Webb scored 29 from 25 deliveries with three fours. Their stand took Melbourne past 100 before Nicola Carey dismissed Webb. Matthews continued to lead the chase and made 59 from 44 balls before Graham ended her innings.
The Renegades lost more wickets as they moved closer to the target. Molineux scored six before Molly Strano dismissed her, while Wareham made 17 from 11 balls before falling to Carey. Graham also removed Chloe Tryon, who scored four. Nicole Faltum stayed unbeaten on nine from 11 deliveries, and Deandra Dottin supported her with an unbeaten 15 from 11 balls, hitting two fours. The pair guided Melbourne to 155/6 in 19.5 overs, securing a four-wicket win with one ball remaining.
Graham finished as Hobart’s leading bowler with 3/24 from four overs. Carey took two wickets for 30 runs in 3.5 overs, while Strano returned 1/22 in four overs. Chinelle Henry, Isabella Malgioglio, Lauren Smith, Hayley Silver-Holmes and Athapaththu did not take a wicket. The defeat left Hobart eighth with no points from three matches, three losses and a net run rate of -1.792. Melbourne moved to sixth with two points from three matches, having one win and two defeats, and a net run rate of -1.385. Sydney Sixers, Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder led the table with four points each, while Brisbane Heat were seventh without a win from two matches. The Renegades’ victory ended their losing run, while Hobart remained in search of their first win overall.
