The Emirates Cricket Board has selected 38-year-old Namibian coach Oscar Nauhaus to take charge of the UAE Women’s National Team starting next month. Nauhaus emerged as the top pick following an extensive global search by the board that drew more than 100 applications, reflecting the growing stature of the UAE women’s setup.

Nauhaus arrives with over a decade of coaching experience spanning grassroots development, high-performance programs, and international competition. In his most recent role as High Performance Manager at Cricket Namibia, he focused on building talent pathways and preparing young players for senior cricket. His international credentials include guiding Namibia’s U19 Men’s team to qualification for the 2024 ICC U19 Men’s World Cup, alongside serving on the support staff for the Namibian senior men’s squad during their 2024 T20 World Cup campaign.
The shift to the Emirates marks a return to familiar surroundings for Nauhaus, who previously worked at the Zayed Cricket Academy in Abu Dhabi and served on the coaching staff for Team Abu Dhabi in the Abu Dhabi T10. Grounded in sport science, his coaching philosophy combines athletic conditioning and technical development with a focus on building positive, growth-oriented team cultures.
Nauhaus takes over during a strong phase for UAE women’s cricket, coming off impressive outings in the Women’s Asia Cup. Expressing his excitement about taking the job, Nauhaus said, “It is indeed a great honour to take charge of the incredibly talented UAE Women’s National Cricket Team that has produced some fantastic performances in recent times. UAE cricket is surely on the rise, exemplified by the team’s fine performances in the Women’s Asia Cup.”
He added, “I am grateful to the Emirates Cricket Board for selecting me for this prestigious role. I am excited to start my stint and eagerly look forward to joining the team in Dubai. My aim will be to build further on the good work done by my predecessor and take the team to the next level.”
Nauhaus is scheduled to touch down in Dubai next week to meet up with the squad and officially kick off preparations for their upcoming international calendar.
