Peterson represented New Zealand between 2012 and 2020. She played as a right-arm off-break bowler and a dependable lower-order batter, known for remaining calm under pressure. Her international career included the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2017 and three ICC Women’s T20 World Cups. She completed her international journey at the 2020 tournament in Australia. Peterson retired from international cricket in October 2021 and stepped away from all competitive cricket in March 2022.

One of her biggest achievements came on 19 February 2017, when she became the first New Zealand woman to take a T20I hat-trick. The historic performance happened against Australia during a series decider. Peterson dismissed Jess Jonassen, Alyssa Healy and Megan Schutt with three consecutive deliveries. She finished with figures of 3/2, helping New Zealand win the series. The achievement became a memorable part of her international career and placed her name in New Zealand cricket history.

Peterson also delivered an important performance against West Indies in 2018. New Zealand were defending a low total, and West Indies needed only five runs with six wickets remaining. Peterson was given responsibility for the final over. She conceded just two runs, took two wickets and helped force a run-out. New Zealand eventually secured a one-run victory. Her performance showed how she could remain calm and contribute when the match reached a difficult stage.

At domestic level, Peterson represented Auckland Hearts and previously played for Northern Districts. Her domestic career covered 2008 to 2022. During domestic T20 cricket, she reached the milestone of 100 wickets. The achievement reflected her years of contribution to the game. After leaving competitive cricket, she moved into sports management and youth development roles in New Zealand, continuing her connection with cricket.

Peterson played 32 ODIs, scoring 279 runs, with a highest score of 46. She took 27 wickets, with best bowling figures of 4/25 and an economy rate of 3.50. In T20Is, she appeared in 33 matches and scored 92 runs, with a highest score of 15. She claimed 18 wickets, including her historic 3/2 hat-trick, and recorded an economy rate of 6.89. These numbers show her contribution as a bowler and lower-order batter for New Zealand.

Peterson’s wedding is another personal milestone among the White Ferns. Amy Satterthwaite and Lea Tahuhu married in March 2017. They have two children, a daughter named Grace Marie and a son named Louie. Their relationship and family journey have also been part of the personal stories surrounding the New Zealand women’s cricket team.

Maddy Green and Liz Perry married in April 2019. Hayley Jensen married Australian cricketer Nicola Hancock on 12 April 2019. Amelia Kerr is engaged or in a long-term relationship with New Zealand men’s cricketer Nathan Smith. These relationship milestones highlight the personal lives of several White Ferns alongside their cricket careers.

Peterson’s wedding adds a new personal chapter to the life of a former White Fern whose career included international tournaments, a record-setting hat-trick, a close final-over victory and 100 domestic T20 wickets. Her Instagram message celebrates the future she and Cate Herbert are beginning together. Her cricket journey remains remembered through her international performances, domestic achievements and later work in sports management and youth development. The couple’s shared post keeps this wedding announcement at its center.
