Megan Schutt Becomes First Pace Bowler to Take 150 Wickets in Both Women’s ODIs and T20Is

Megan Schutt added another milestone to her distinguished international career on 9 October 2026, becoming the second bowler after India’s Deepti Sharma, and the first pace bowler, to take at least 150 wickets in both women’s ODI and T20I cricket. The 33-year-old reached the ODI mark in Australia’s series opener against Bangladesh at Allan Border Field, Brisbane, where her disciplined spell helped set up a seven-wicket victory and a 1-0 lead for the hosts.

Standing in as Australia captain, Tahlia McGrath won the toss and chose to bowl against Nigar Sultana Joty’s Bangladesh. Schutt made the most of the decision, finishing with 2 for 19 from 10 overs, including four maidens. She dismissed Fargana Hoque for a first-ball duck and Sarmin Sultana for four from seven deliveries as Bangladesh were bowled out for 166 in 49.4 overs. Australia then chased down the target in 25.4 overs to take control of the three-match series, scheduled to run from 9 to 14 October.

The wickets also made Schutt the third Australian woman to claim 150 ODI wickets for her country, after Cathryn Fitzpatrick and Ellyse Perry. Since making her ODI debut against New Zealand at North Sydney on 17 December 2012, she had taken 150 wickets in 112 innings across 112 matches, averaging 23.96 and conceding 4.27 runs an over. Her ODI record included one five-wicket haul and five four-wicket hauls.

Schutt’s best ODI figures remain 5 for 19 against India at Brisbane on 5 December 2024. She removed Priya Punia, Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, Saima Thakor and Priya Mishra in a spell of 6.2 overs, including a maiden. Australia won that match by five wickets, and Schutt was named Player of the Match.

Her achievement in ODIs completes a rare double across the two white-ball formats. Schutt made her T20I debut against New Zealand in Melbourne on 22 January 2013 and, by the time of the Bangladesh match, had taken 152 wickets in 126 matches and 125 innings. Her T20I average stood at 17.84, with an economy rate of 6.39; she had recorded four four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul.

For a fast bowler to pass 150 wickets in both formats speaks to more than longevity. Schutt has remained a dependable strike option through changing teams, conditions and phases of the game, bringing movement and control with the new ball, and the experience to deliver when Australia need a breakthrough. Her landmark against Bangladesh was another reminder of the sustained value she brings to the side.
