Zimbabwe’s experienced all-rounder Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano marked a significant personal milestone when she made her 100th international appearance for her country in the third and final T20I against the West Indies at Takashinga Sports Club, Harare, on 7 October 2026. The 34-year-old contributed 7 off 12 balls from No. 3, including a boundary, as Zimbabwe posted a competitive 142/6 in their 20 overs. However, the hosts were unable to turn the occasion into a winning one, with the West Indies completing an eight-wicket victory to seal the T20I series 3-0.

Mugeri-Tiripano’s landmark appearance came at the end of a historic home campaign for Zimbabwe women, who hosted the West Indies for their first-ever white-ball bilateral series from 24 September to 7 October. The tour featured three ODIs followed by three T20Is, providing Zimbabwe with a valuable opportunity to test themselves against one of women’s cricket’s established international sides. While Josephine Nkomo’s team lost the ODI series 2-1 and suffered a 3-0 defeat in the T20I leg, the series also underlined the growing depth of experience within the Zimbabwe setup.
For Mugeri-Tiripano, the achievement reflects a journey that began in the shortest format. She made her international debut in a T20I against Namibia at Walvis Bay on 5 January 2019 and has since developed into one of Zimbabwe’s most dependable batting figures. Across 76 T20Is, she has scored 1,461 runs in 71 innings at an average of 24.35 and a strike rate of 104.05, with two half-centuries to her name. Those numbers place her as Zimbabwe’s second-highest run-scorer in women’s T20Is, highlighting both her longevity and her value to the side’s middle order.
Her finest T20I innings came during the Capricorn Women’s Tri-Series against Namibia in Windhoek on 20 April 2022. Opening the batting alongside Sharne Mayers, Mugeri-Tiripano struck a fluent 80 from 59 deliveries, combining control with intent through 10 boundaries and two sixes. Zimbabwe finished with 130/3 from their 20 overs, although Namibia eventually won by seven wickets. Despite the result, the innings remains a defining illustration of Mugeri-Tiripano’s ability to shoulder responsibility and provide substance at the top of the order.
She has carried that consistency into the 50-over game as well. Since making her ODI debut against Thailand in Bangkok on 19 April 2023, Mugeri-Tiripano has accumulated 676 runs from 24 innings in 24 matches. Her five ODI half-centuries have come at an average of 30.72, while her strike rate of 68.90 reflects her capacity to balance stability with scoring momentum in Zimbabwe’s batting unit.
Although her 100th cap ended in defeat, Mugeri-Tiripano’s milestone remains an important moment for Zimbabwean women’s cricket. Her record across formats, built through sustained contributions since 2019, has made her a key link between Zimbabwe’s earlier international progress and the team’s ambitions in an increasingly competitive global landscape.
